My Daily Bicycle Commute – Toronto – February 2014

About the author

  1. Hello I live in Minnesota and I've been wanting to start bike riding but I've been a little leary due to so much snowfall this winter. Your video gives me so much enthusiasm & motivation 🚲 🚲 🚲 🚲 thank you so much! Love it ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

  2. I used Google Maps and Street View to follow your route from your apartment to your place of work. E.g. this junction of Deloraine ave. and Yonge str.,-79.4044216,3a,75y,270h,90t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1sAzs3jMNl5kQwY_UdcRFcEQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i45?hl=nl

  3. Do you use special tires when its snowing? How wide are your tires? What kind of bike s this (road/mounting/hybrid/cyclocross)?

  4. Looks petty cold man, can't remember when we had snow like that. Wind and rain seems to be the norm now !! (UK)

  5. Awesome video. I ride all year round in Vancouver BC so all I have to contend with is lots of rain. We might get a week or so with some snow on the ground each winter but it's pretty rare.

  6. Hi kudos on commuting on winter! Wish I could do the same here in Waterloo, what device, app or software were you using to have the speed overlaid on the video? Edit: ignore my question what I needed was on the description

  7. I ride year round too.  Shorter rides in winter though.  The windburn on my face can get pretty annoying at times.  Also, if there is snow on the ground, i sometimes chicken out because i'm afraid i'm going to hit a hidden patch of ice.  But as you said, Toronto Area doesn't get hit with much snow in recent years. I often do get a kick out of watching peoples' faces as i ride by though. As if their saying "you're friggin nuts". It's fine, as long as you dress for the weather… i mean, this IS Canada!

  8. Nice riding, how deep is the deepest snow that you did ever rode your bike in? I rode my bike in the old snow just for fun it was about 4in ( 9 cm) on flat grand. I like what you mention in the video about there are limitation for all vesicles.

  9. Encouraging vid mate. Nice to see you stick to bike commuting in spite of the snowy weather. Love cycling, made me lost more than 15kg. All down to the bike..

  10. Wow, awesome. I run on exactly your route, I love it! (I have the Strava KOM's at Hogg's Hallow for running)

I live near Yonge & Sheppard, and there's a nice bike route which lets you go basically all the way to the DVP / Lakeshore trail via Banbury Park and then the Don Mills Railroad track. It's awesome.

  11. Should be a special Canadian badge for biking in the winter.  One for every winter survived.  Thank you for sharing your thoughts on these rides.  Love the insight.  I hope you show your tires and if they are studded etc.
